This May and June has seen record-breaking warm days and sun in Denmark, which has been a wonderful excuse to spend more time in Trampoline House’s spacious courtyard. As people relax, meet, and sit outside, our gardening team has taken on the challenge to maintain the courtyard and garden.

The gardening volunteers have made the garden and courtyard ever more beautiful. The gardening volunteers Mathilde and Kari are both anthropologists and do not have any professional experience in tending to plants. According to Mathilde, they “were hoping to create an organic safe space, where people are painting, planting and doing activities, such as making lanterns” and they “want to make a space where everyone’s ideas for how to put together a space like this are heard.”
Everyone is welcome to be a part of the gardening team regardless of his or her experience with planting, painting, or gardening. This year’s gardening team have taken on new creative projects and transformed the garden to the most popular and beautiful place in Trampoline House.
When asked if she could describe the gardening team, Mathilde says that the team is diverse, hard-working and fun: “There’s a really good vibe in the gardening team. When we go out of the house to buy something or try to get donations, people are really excited about it and talkative. It’s easy to get along with everyone on the team.”
The gardening team is not only productive, but also brings social energy to Trampoline House. Mathilde emphasizes that being on the gardening team “has nothing to do with what your status is or whether or not if you have a CPR number. It’s just about having fun and being creative. I know there’s activities going on inside, but there’s a different atmosphere out here. It’s not about learning Danish or getting help with your legal issues. It’s more about playing around and having fun, being outside in the sun!”
Both the volunteer group and the social space in the garden is open to anyone who wants to join!
