On Sunday, we will continue our lecture series on the Danish asylum system when Anne Lund Preisler Herbst from the Danish Refugee Council visits the Weekend Trampoline House. She will tell us more about the so-called paradigm shift in Danish immigration policy, which was adopted by the Folketing in February 2019.
The controversial and by humanitarian organizations much-criticized paradigm shift is the term for a large number of legislative changes that changed the focus from the integration of refugees to repatriation. Among other things, the law package has given the Danish Immigration Service the opportunity to revoke refugees' residence permits if it is assessed that there is again peace in their country of origin. The shift from previously wanting to integrate refugees to now giving them temporary residence has created great insecurity among refugees.
After the lecture, you are welcome to join our popular community dinner from 5–6 pm, and we will be happy if you will donate DKK 25 for the meal.
Time & Place:
The lecture will be held in English with simultaneous translation to Arabic and Farsi. It takes place from 4–5 pm in Weekend Trampoline House, c/o Apostle Church, Saxogade 13, 1662 Copenhagen V.
